Exposed Linear Encoders

Exposed linear encoders from HEIDENHAIN operate with no mechanical contact between the scanning head and the scale or scale tape. Typical applications include:

  • Measuring and production equipment in the semiconductor industry
  • PCB assembly machines
  • Ultra-precision machines
  • High-accuracy machine tools
  • Measuring machines and comparators, measuring microscopes, and other precision measuring devices
  • Direct drives

Features:

  • Accuracy grades of ± 0.5 mm and better
  • Measuring steps to 0.001 mm (1 nm)
  • Measuring lengths up to 30 m
  • No friction between scanning head and scale
  • Small dimensions and low weight
  • High traversing speed
