"TWIST'ER OUT" RING PRINCIPLE:
The "TWIST'ER OUT" ring with it's P.D. related ground O.D. and faces, works by two independent thread gage sections that, when twisted, grips the flanks of the product thread. This locks and locates the functional thread axis of the product thread. At this point a variety of inspection techniques are possible, such as true position, runout, and concentricity to the part P.D. datum.

  • Reliable pitch diameter datum source for location of functional thread axis position.
  • Accuracy to .0001
  • No complicated moving parts.
  • Easily adapted for SPC.

"TWIST'ER OUT" RING ADVANTAGES:

  • Allows part manufacturer to accurately determine runout, perpendicularity, true position, and concentricity of part parameters to the P.D.
  • Inspects functional thread plug gages for special requirements, such as: "Pitch diameter of gages must run within .0002 to centers, or a face."
  • Assures assemblability

  • Major and minor diameters remain constant during inspection process as compared to alternate types of gaging.

"TWIST'ER IN" PLUG PRINCIPLE:

The "TWIST'ER IN" plug works by movable thread gage segments that engage one flank angle, while the thread body engages the opposite thread flank angle of the product thread. The resultant "flank grip" establishes the functional size and/or functional thread axis of the part, depending on how the twister plug is fabricated.

  • Reliable pitch diameter datum source for functional size determination and/or functional thread axis location.
  • Accuracy to .0001
  • No complicated moving parts.
  • Easily adapted for SPC.
