All
pick-ups of the Mahr program are inductive. Highly linearly, they
convert the traced profile into an electric signal. The measuring
value amplification can be adjusted statically by way of a setting
standard. Diamond styli and tungsten carbide skids ensure service
lifes of several years. During tracing, comparatively high accelerations
occur. In order to trace even the finest profile structures true-to-form,
all moving pick-up components are of low mass and hardly subject
to friction. Fast adaptation to different measuring tasks is possible
as all pick-ups are readily interchangeable. The many types and
versions arising from practical requirements ensure optimum solutions
for any problem. The geometry of standard diamond styli meets
the one recommended by DIN ISO. On request, however, special styli
featuring different radii, angles, or edge forms can be fabricated.
Skidless
pick-ups
The diamond stylus is drawn across the workpiece on a datum
plane which is integrated into the drive unit. The datum plane
represents the geometrically ideal profile. Deviations of roughness,
form, and waviness can be assessed. Inclination variations
and sudden rises can be monitored e.g. during direct recording.
Besides the RFHTB and MFW pick-ups, the FRW pick-up (plug-in
type for PGK 120), which offers a large measuring range and
various tracing arms, is available.
Single-skid
pick-ups
Single-skid pick-ups are supported on the workpiece by only one
skid and therefore they must be aligned with respect to the surface
to be traced. They are preferably employed for short contact
surfaces. Due to their small dimensions, the most common
single-skid pick-ups, namely RHT 6, RHT 3, and RHT 2, are also
suitable for measuring small bores.
Dual-skid
pick-ups
Dual-skid ("self-aligning") pick-ups are connected to
the drive
unit via joints and therefore they immediately align themselves
with respect to the surface to be traced. No setting-up time is
required. Hence, dual-skid pick-ups are favored for cylindrical
bores and flat workpieces such as sheet metal.
Focodyn,
LS 1 and LS 10 laser pick-ups
According to their operational principle, the laser pick-ups can
be
considered skidless pick-ups. They focus on the profile where
the
objective is positioned dynamically. Due to the non-contact profile
acquisition, they are especially favorable for soft workpieces.
